Davidic City of Lights

Hey there my lovely internet friends! My name is Eunice Tavares. After three years, we are finally talking about Davidic City of Lights. The inspiration sketch for this project was to envision mountains with lights and to have wood logs with a water in between the mountains. We’re talking about our identity in Jesus Christ and the struggle of faith as we are being worked by God. I hope you found this encouraging, comforting, and inspiring in Jesus Christ. Let’s get into the crafting details of how this project was made.

You are light for the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Likewise, when people light a lamp, they don’t cover it with a bowl but put it on a lampstand, so that it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they may see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

- Matthew 5:14-16/ Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

Bible Verse Inspiration

Making Process with Prophetic Significance

The base of the project are made up of two pieces of recycled cardboard overlapping each other. The first layer of side pieces and the houses are made out of cardboard. To give the side pieces more support I cut out pieces out of a hard cover of a math book. These side pieces lift the project up to give the base it’s shape volume of a rectangular box. Beneath the box, I put in a wooden platform that holds the light for the star in the middle of the mountains. I also worked with a lot of paper clips to make railing details. The majority of the miniatures are made out of scrap paper, craft jewels, and other craft supplies like foam balls and fabrics. I’m using dollar tree lights to illuminate the paper mountains and the star. I’m using four lights, three candle lights for the mountains and one large light for the star.

Process of why I made it using the bible verse to guide decisions

As a three year old baby Christian, I talk about surrendering our will by crying out to God through my own life experience and dreams that brought me to have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.

Every mountain the Holy Spirit lead me to give them names. The Prophet’s Cave, Mountain 1 and Mountain 2.

Overview Map + Mountain Sections

Below, the picture is a top view illustrated map of the project inspired by Jeremiah 31 speaking about the new covenant established by Jesus Christ. This is an overall layout of how all of the spaces in the mountains were organized and where every house is located with there respective number.

Prophet’s Cave

There he went into a cave and spent the night. Then the word of God came to him; he said to him, “What are you doing here Elijah?” He answered, “I have been very zealous for God the God of armies, because the people of Isra’el have abandoned your covenant, broken down your altars and killed your prophets with the sword. Now I’m the only one left, and they’re coming after me to kill me too.”

1 Kings 19:9-10

The mountain represents Jesus Christ fulfilling the law lifting the burden of needing to be perfect and now we have grace to show up as we are.

The cave is a symbol of our heart needing the presence of God to fill the void. It’s about being sincere of what we truly long for by confronting our biggest fears.

Your soul is screaming out because you need to release something and you could need liberation.

It can also be that you have a mental stronghold so you hide away in the cave but hearing God’s voice allows Him to intervene.

It can take years to learn to walk by faith and not by sight. We are holding on to the Word and God’s promises. The breakthrough isn’t physical possessions but just being seen and to be chosen by God is the breakthrough. Though, it can be difficult to leave behind things in the world that gave you a temporary happiness, but at the end of the day it can’t fix the void you feel in your soul. It can be easy to say you’ll give up on something and then I’m going to leave it but then you just fall back into it. That’s okay because as we are learning to walk by faith and not by sight we start to have our mind be renewed.

Elisha prayed, “God, I ask you to open his eyes, so that he can see.” Then God opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw; there before him, all around Elisha, the mountain was covered with horses and fiery chariots.

2 Kings 6:17

The Road

“But I say, isn’t it rather that Isra’el didn’t understand?” “I will provoke you to jealousy over a non-nation, over a nation void of understanding I will make you angry.”

Romans 10:17-21

Olive Watchtower

The Apostle Paul in the book of Romans is talking about the salvation of Israel because they don’t understand the faith in Jesus Christ. Their hearts are veiled. They have zeal for God but they don’t understand the first requirement for this faith is to believe in Jesus Christ but they rejected Him.

Bridesmaids Garden

This garden piece represents our return to God as the Word is purifying our heart and brings rest. There are two dreams that were inspired by my own life experience after I gave my life to Jesus Christ and His presence was guiding and helping me to get out of college five years later. I was in a pit needing to get out of both my physical and spiritual situation. I was masturbating and watching pornography. I was depressed and anxious. God was calling me to draw to Him.

“The Kingdom of Heaven at that time will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went out to meet the groom. Five of them were foolish and five were sensible. The foolish ones took lamps with them but no oil, whereas the others took flasks of oil with their lamps. Now the bridegroom was late, so they all went to sleep.

Matthew 25:1-5

Sunrise Living Room Balcony

The living room represents a dream where I was floating in the air looking over a balcony and seeing the sun rise over a living room where behind the white sofa was an upside down bicycle. While I was still watching the living room, there was a large glass material moving on its own without fire but still moving with precision as if hands were manipulating it forming a corridor handle hugging the interior as it was pulled through the exterior front wall which was like a very beautiful translucent fish scale material, next to the door on the right and the glass was transformed into a unique window with a round table.

The pieces I cut out of my trigonometry book were to let the old way of my life die, for me it was the things I hated doing and hiding my true self instead of being. One thing I realized through my careers and the way these classes were structured I saw Jesus Christ. The way I kept persevering showing up. I enjoyed mathematics and science because it was practical and structural. I didn’t need a cross or an image of Him. It’s about believing that He lives in you.

Blue Sky Glass Box Classroom

In the lower level of the garden, there is a transparent cloud box that represents another dream where I awoke standing up looking down at my feet to find my feet were on a glass floor in the air. As I was looking around, I saw clouds covering the rest of this glass box that I was inside of with someone else who was a professor and he looked like he was thinking. And the glass box was set up like a classroom. When I approached the professor, he had asked me about my time in college and I responded. Then he told me he would help me leave college within one year. This is the dream I held onto during my last days in college because it gave me hope when I had just begun to pray more and read the Word in class.

Hosanna Plaza represents how God demonstrated His love for us while we were still in our sins. Jesus Christ died for us and resurrected from the dead to sit at the right hand of the Father God. Hosanna originally mean Please Lord save us but it was turned into a proclamation of Salvation! Thank you!

Underground Cave + Bread Blanket

Psalms 118: 25-26

Please Lord save us! Please Lord rescue us. Blessed is He who comes in the name of God.

Boutique Shop Room with Bread Blanket

I walked into a parking lot and I saw a gray and gloomy sky. I met a girl who had a golden appearance with curly hair and blue eyes sitting on top of a green tree. She and I started walking together. Then she wasn’t with me anymore. I was alone on a town street where it appeared like war was going on and there was a bus parked in front of me so I naturally went in. The driver was a man as a soldier who was speaking to me and was protecting others from this war happening. Afterwards, I got out of the bus, walked through this war zone, and I wasn’t harmed and I walked into this empty boutique place with wooden floors and it was really clean and there was a receptionist and this room lead into another room. When I went in the other room,  and the girl was with me now, there was a blanket on the floor and I went under it. The girl who was with me went under it too. And then I realized that this blanket was edible and so I tore off a piece to eat it. It didn’t taste like anything but I spit it out after and when I looked down on the floor it had red apple and it was bread. So then a man had appeared walking in and he was thinking. He wore a red sash and a flower crown with pink and red flowers on his head. He approached me and the other girl and smiled, extending his arms out saying, my sheep. I looked around because there was no one else except me and this girl. I also noticed that through the window of this room there were people that were scared from seeing the war happening but I grew concerned that they weren’t inside of the room with me. And so, after the man sat down on the floor with me and this other girl and he began to speak and I couldn’t see his face clearly because it was like there was a veil that made it blurry to see him. The only thing I heard was that he was saying that we would suffer for his name. And then, he was there no more. The girl and I left the room and returned back outside.

Anchors/Support Pillars

Jesus Christ rescuing us from where we are. It shows the humility of His heart and yet His divine nature that He is all powerful.

If I hadn’t surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, I would still be stuck in the pit. My mourning was turned into joy.

The feeling of unworthiness can be my pride and arrogance that is protecting my ego that doesn’t allow me to accept the truth because it hurts.

Dream

My Right Arm Being Supported by Jesus Christ as we are walking down a hallway to my bedroom

I saw myself in light in a classroom setting cleaning up after myself. And there were students and a professor who was trying to get all of us to read catholic bibles and the Lord Jesus Christ was there sitting on top of a desk looking at me as I was telling other students not to believe this catholic bible we were reading. And through a top window I saw a bright light arrive in the classroom. Then I went into the bathroom and the Lord Jesus Christ was waiting for me. Afterwards, Him and I, we were walking together and I was really tired so He was supporting my arm. All of my weight was on Him so I was crouching down and I could see his sandals and white dress. And we were walking towards my bedroom that was down a hallway and the door was opened. Then He let me walk in first and  He was waiting. As I turn around, the hallway turned into a dirt tunnel. Literally like excavating dirt. My heart was so harden and it was buried in dirt that it was excavated like you’re using one of those construction machines and your digging up dirt until you actually find that heart and you’re given that heart of flesh. That’s how I see this dream. After I saw that I saw the Lord in His glory with this supernatural glory like a cosmic power shining all around Him. And as he’s walking closer to my door he had a head covering and he slowly lowering it. He walks through the door, and the door frame shone so bright and he transformed into a lamb. And on the side of the door, there was a portal where I could see mountains, trees, and a water stream. I love animals so I naturally wanted to carry this lamb that jumped into my arms and when it was in my hands, it turned into a black sheep stuffed animal. Then I took this black sheep stuffed animal and set it on a bench that was in front of my bed and I started walking into another room.

Matthew 24:26

Picnic

So if people say to you, ‘Listen! He’s out in the desert!’ don’t go; or ‘Look! He’s hidden away in a secret room!’ don’t believe it. For when the Son of Man does come, it will be like lightning that flashes out of the east and fills the sky to the western horizon.

After Jesus Christ resurrects, He arrives to Lake Tiberias to find Peter with other disciples had returned back to fishing. It can be difficult to move forward to trust the way that seems unknown but it’s comforting to know we don’t walk alone.

Jesus Christ is coming back!

The picnic represents believing in Him with the very little we have.

The fish breakfast the Lord makes after calling the disciples represent the transformation we undergo when we are going through trials. We can begin really doubtful but over time our trust is strengthen. Just like Peter was doubtful, even denying the Lord then he is transformed and it plays out in the beginning of his ministry in the book of Acts.

Romans 14:17

for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

We don’t need to wait until we are ready to serve God or to be with Him. Sometimes we can feel like we’re not good enough making it hard to see ourselves the way God sees us. We look for a way to belong in the world. We can compare ourselves to people who do evil and envy them because nothing happens to them and for us it’s we do everything right yet we still go through hardship. But we are not of this world and our ultimate goal is heavenly setting us apart from the way the world does things.

Dream

Blue Clothed Baby + Vegetable Soup

I was in my kitchen and the Lord was making vegetable soup. I was given a bowl of vegetable soup and I had a white napkin in my hand. I saw that the Lord’s eyes were shining and gleaming. He was telling me that there was a man ahead of me doing kingdom empirical work. Then I went to my laundry machines because the Lord was standing in front of them holding a baby clothed with a blue hat on it’s head and was wrapped in a blue blanket. It was sleeping peacefully and the Lord caressed this baby. I was skeptical at how peaceful the baby looked but it was alive and sleeping. Then I told the Lord how I didn’t have this baby.

9 Fruit of the Spirit Houses

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, self control. Nothing in the Word stands against such things.

Every house is a chapter of Isaiah.

It can be easy to do what is evil. We need heart conviction to put Jesus at the center of our heart. We can want to hide ourselves to be someone we are not to fit in the world but we are loved as we are in Jesus Christ. We don’t need to earn God’s love.

Acknowledging I can’t serve God and my own ego anymore. I am an imperfect human being and it will take time to grow in the fruit of the Spirit.

Isaiah 5

Not looking at people anymore. It needs to be a personal relationship with God. He is guiding my way and it takes years. It’s not an easy way but to remind ourselves of what God has done in our life.

Isaiah 6

We’re still going to doubt, we are still going to struggle with understanding why we go through painful situations.

It was hard to admit I am a bad person and I carry a weight on my conscious. Making people the reason why we aren’t in the faith.

It’s been hard to be rebuild by God again after recovering from the place where He found me. For me, it looked like being in a sickbed.

Bathroom and a bedroom as a kitchen cupboard things that you put away because they hurt and are uncomfortable but we need to reconcile with the past. This is represented through the cut out pictures scattered in the flooring of this house.

Isaiah 9

Through hardship you come to understand that it’s not about you, but about Jesus Christ.

It’s really easy to feel hopeless, devastated, and discouraged by our surrounding and it’s okay to grapple with needing to move forward yet we still need to surrender something that’s keeping me stuck to not be in a constant routine of religion.

It can be hard to understand God’s love for us. He understands the things we go through because He went through them living this life. He is the perfect high priest interceding for us.

If nothing seems to be happening, perhaps it’s because you have to see God as your divine providence.

Isaiah 3

God’s plans are always for others. To gather His people and to refine us. This is what the upstairs with the stove and the metal rods represent in this house.

This house represents obedience to the calling of God. For me, it looks like doing this business to share His word and live by faith.

God’s kindness leads us to repentance. The Holy Spirit convicting us of our sin.

Isaiah 2

This house represents being led by God’s wisdom. To search Him out wholeheartedly. The seats represent broken vessels that have been restored and used for God’s purpose. The silver chandelier is wisdom revealed when the back wall opens like a door.

Isaiah 10

Our suffering can become a blessing making it easier to extend grace to others who hurt us. All things work for our own good and these people can be used by God to shape us to become more righteous.

The tent in the terrace represents the coat of Joseph who was betrayed by his brothers then he is raised into a governor for Egypt can mirror the way Jesus Christ suffered to cover many sins but won the victory over sin.

Isaiah 4

The house setting is inspired by the dream of the boutique room with wooden floors and the bread blanket.

The front wall as a door represents the revelation of Jesus Christ we experience.

Jesus Christ return will be like in the time of Noah when he preached to people that a flood would come and he was building the ark but no one believed him, only his family and the animals were saved. We need to stay alert and be vigilant so we know what is our standing in Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ, I come before you to admit I am a sinner. I repent of my sins and accept you in my life as my Lord and Savior. I believe in my heart that You have died for me on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day. I put my trust in You. Liberate me. Show me the way I need to walk with You to do your will. In Jesus Name Amen.
